Alpe Ciamporino by San Domenico Di Varzo - Italy

Alpe Ciamporino is located in the Lepontine Alps by San Domenico di Varzo, north of Piedmont in Italy. The resort sits on the left side of the Cairasca valley, and can be accessed through chairlifts from San Domenico. The ski resort rises at 1,420 metres altitude with the highest peak reaching 2,500 metres. Alpe Ciamporino contains one green run, one blue run, five red runs and four black runs. It is served by three chair lifts and three t-lifts or plate lifts. During the summer season, the resort becomes the starting area for alpine mountain hiking going to Alpe Veglia, Alpe Devero and Alpe Solcio.

Alpe Ciamporino is in Italy and there are a few air terminals nearby that could serve as your starting point in heading to the resort. You can choose any airport flight alternatives:

from Aosta
from Malpensa
from Sion
from Bern Belp
from Lugano

From the airport, you can take taxi transfers, coaches, buses, car hires, or the train to bring you to San Domenico. From Switzerland, you can reach San Domenico di Varzo by following the routes from Basel to Bern going through Fribourg, Vevey and Sion until you reach Brig and go through the Simplon Pass. From there, it is a 30 kilometre drive going to San Domenico. If you are from the Swiss area and you want to use the auto train, you will have to ride one that passes to Kandersteg - Goppenstein and then on to Brig to the station in Simplon pass. You can choose to get off there and ride a bus or a car to reach San Domenico. From Milan, Varese, Genova, or anywhere from northern Italy, use motorway A26 and continue until you reach as far as Varzo. From Varzo City, climb up San Domenico village. Alpe Ciamporino can then be accessed via chairlifts from the village.

Tourist facilities like hotels, chalets, residences, flat rentals, restaurants, dining places, equipment rental shops, pubs and a few bars are also available around the area. The resort opens on the 5th of December and closes on the 5th of May.
